SuperDragons is a unique, world-class art event that's designed to have huge public appeal… and it’s on its way. From late July to 9th October 2010, it will create a trail through the city of Newport. From the riverside to the city centre and out to the neighbourhoods; SuperDragons will encourage thousands of people to follow the trail and discover, or re-discover, their city. This is a real opportunity to provide community and education projects and ultimately to take pride in Newport. SuperDragons has been commissioned by Newport City Council and is being created and delivered by Wild in Art. - 60 specially designed SuperDragons will showcase Newport’s heritage, architecture, regeneration and art scene.

- The sculptures have been created by Wild in Art’s Creative Director, Mr Chris Wilkinson, and will be designed and created by regional and local professional artists, community groups and schools.

- SuperDragons will animate Newport’s streets, parks and open spaces.

- It’s all about partnerships and aims to bring the business and creative sectors together with local communities to celebrate both the city’s character and its cultural identity.

- The trail will attract thousands of people and encourage residents to be ‘visitors in their own city’. It will highlight gems that are perhaps unseen by visitors and residents, as well as areas of development and regeneration.

- At the conclusion of the event the majority of the SuperDragons will be sold at a charity auction with substantial proceeds being donated to charity.

- SuperDragons will make a significant contribution to the economic, cultural and social life of the city.
